ABOUT
The West Coast Gallery is a dynamic community arts venue, which exhibits and sells the artworks of over 200 artists all residing in the West Coast Waitakere Ranges of Auckland.
The gallery is an essential hub of artistic activity in the area, hosting regular events and art projects encouraging community involvement.
In 2000 when the new fire station was being built at Piha, a group of local artists saw the possibility of the old volunteer fire station becoming an arts centre for the local and wider community. An arts trust was formed with the mission statement - “to promote and encourage the enjoyment of, and participation in the Arts, in all its forms, for the community”.
The West Coast Gallery is set up as a registered charitable trust, the West Coast Community Arts Trust.
Every second Thursday of the month we hold a board meeting at The West Coast Gallery which is attended by:
Chairperson - Sheena Von Bassewitz
